These are professionally soft tanned, wild Eastern Coyote pelts from Northern New England. They were sustainably, ethically, and legally harvested by licensed trappers. They have been professionally handled and tanned by Moyle Mink Tannery in Idaho.
These are heavy Eastern Coyotes. The Eastern coyote, especially in Northern New England, is notably larger in size compared to Western coyotes. Our extra select grade is very limited and are extremely nice quality fur, exceptional for garment needs. These pelts would be excellent for garment making, for ruffs, capes, other crafts, or wall hangers and cabin decor. These pelts are not suited for taxidermy. They do not have feet attached and eye openings can be cut irregular or slightly larger. If you are purchasing more than one pelt for garment making and would like the pelts color matched, leave us a comment on your order and we will do our best to pick similar pelts. Although the extra select grade are the most expensive, they really are some of the nicest coyote pelts you will find and well worth the extra cost.
We sell all our pelts by size and grade. Size is measured from tip of nose to tip of tail.

XL - 54-58"
L/M - Under 54"
Our three grades are Extra Select, Premium, and Standard.
Extra Select: We reserve this grade for our absolute best pelts. The quality is exceptional. Since all our pelts are wild pelts, we get very few Extra Select pelts. This grade is often referred to as "heavy" pelts. These are fully primed heavily furred pelts with little to no defects. If there are any holes, they are few and small. The tails and faces are in good condition. Eye openings may still be slightly irregular due to defects from the tanning or tagging process.
Premium: Since we try to only harvest our wild pelts during the prime season, these are the bulk of the pelts that we receive. Overall, they are exceptional pelts, excellent for garments or wall hangers. These are often referred to as "semi heavy" pelts. They are prime pelts, but not quite good enough that we can call them an Extra Select. That could be due to holes or defects. Small defects or small rub spots are possible. Holes will be minimal and not easily noticed. Generally, the faces and tails are still in fairly good shape.
Standard: We reserve this grade for our standard and semi-heavy pelts that are harvested past or slightly before prime. The faces or tails may have some damage. There may be some rub spots. There may be more holes that will need to be repaired for garment making. These pelts are good for wall hangers. They also can be good for garments, but will sometimes require more repairs, and the fur quality will be less than our Premium pelts. Overall, they are a terrific value pelt.
Damaged: These grade pelts will have enough damage that we cannot sell them as a standard grade. Typically, they are reduced in price by about 50%. This could be due to larger holes or tears in the pelt that most likely happened in the fleshing or tanning process, they may have fur that is not prime or have significant defects, or they could have spots of slipped fur. They still can be and often are suitable for garments or crafting after repair. They are not usually suitable for wall hanging pelts without repair. Unless specifically noted, they will have tails and face but, may be damaged. Often these pelts will still be very prime and sometimes even extra select grade of fur, but due to certain defects must be sold as damaged at a discounted price.
No Tail: These pelts are missing all or part of the tail. They do not have any other significant damage except the missing tail. They are great pelts for garment making at a reduced price.
